An Agent's Review of this All Suites Resort
I should start by saying that the Mirage is part of the larger Majestic Resort which includes the Colonial, Elegance and of course, the topic of this article, the Mirage.
Let's start with the checkin process.
We were greeted warmly upon our arrival with complimentary fruity drinks and a refreshing towel after our flight from Toronto. Our bags were handled with care and set aside until our rooms were assigned. We were escorted to the Club Lounge where we were offered more drinks and given our bracelets which function as your room key. This is fantastic and I know more resorts are doing this now but it does add a level of convenience that a traditional swipe card lacks.
We were taken to our room which did not disappoint. Keep in mind this is an all suites section of this resort. When you enter your room you are in a living room complete with sofa, coffee table and a small coffee/refreshment area which was stocked with cold beer and soft drinks. There are large sliding doors that welcome you into the bedroom which was welcoming and had the attached bathroom area with double vanity, soaker tub, separate shower and toilet area.
Our personal concierge, Elvis greeted us and immediately asked what bottle of alcohol we would like in the room so we requested Baileys which is great paired with coffee later in the day while winding down. Your concierge is included but I do recommend tipping them. Now, I have never experienced service from a resort butler like I experienced here. Elvis had approximately 50 rooms he was in charge of and not only did her remember each of us by name, he found us daily to make sure we had everything we needed. He arranged our dinner reservations and confirmed them with us every day.
There are numerous restaurants ranging from buffet to Seafood to Steakhouse. We tried them all with mostly success. The seafood was a little underwhelming but we were seated during one of their Weddings so I will cut them a little slack.
Breakfast service was actually pretty good with a great variety and something for everyone. Lunch buffet was one of the best I've had which, for a Dominican resort was very surprising. We tried all the restaurants during our stay and even did the Steakhouse twice. Great food and service.
Before and after dinner reservations we usually found ourselves in the lobby bar which is open, airy and inviting as the bartenders were fun and worked hard to remember our previous drink orders even though we tried different thinks. Ask for the Mini Beers!!
Entertainment was hit and miss with the hits being very good and the misses, well... they missed.
